During one of my Weight Watcher’s meetings, my leader confessed that she eats in order to procrastinate. She doesn’t want to do things like fold the laundry or pay the bills, so she eats. When she said that, I realized that I do the same thing. And, I’ve realized that my pattern in to get a “snack” and eat it front of the TV and then, I watch the whole program. So, not only am I gaining weight, my house is a mess.
2 weeks ago at WW, we made a weight loss goal that we want to meet by Labor Day. Then, we wrote down steps that will help us to make our goal. My goal was to lose 15 pounds. That should be more than doable.
My steps for making this goal are:
1. Drink at least 6 glasses of water per day.
2. Excercise 30 minutes 3 times a week (this is a baby step!)
3. Track my points
4. No more drive-thru lunches
5. Attend meetings
6. And, here is the BIG one…when I’m bored or avoiding life, do something other than eat. Knit, sew, clean anything, just don’t eat.
Consequently, I’m knitting a lot more and I’m sewing a skirt. I’ve been primarily knitting dishcloths. I don’t know why, but I love to knit dishcloths. Maybe it is because it is the first thing I ever knit. Or, maybe it is because the pattern is so simple, I know it by heart. I love to use them in the kitchen. They make me happy and give me a sense of really living creatively. Plus, people like to receive them. Now, that I’m knitting instead of eating, I have a stack of brand-new dishclothes waiting in my linen closet. Some will be put to use here, once those I’m currently using are no longer useable. Others, will be given to friends and family.
I just like knowing that as I’m losing inches and pounds, my stack of lovely, simple dishcloths is growing. Now, I just need to clean something.

how cool is that.
what a great thing to recognize about yourself…and i bet some of your dishclothes end up having a variety of different looks.
i know if someone gave me a dishclothe they knitted i would think that was pretty cool.
I am enjoying your blog! I, too, put off doing things and think if I can just have that piece of chocolate that I will get the energy to do some cleaning. I know you must have lots of pretty dishcloths. Shirley, my late sister, made several for us and I enjoy using them. I don’t knit so my supply is limited. I am glad you are sewing also.
